Susan Grant is back with an all-new, stand-alone tale of two improbable lovers,
their daring secret, and the gamble destined to alter the course of their
worlds forever!
She was playing with fire...
Jemm Aves battles to keep her dreams
alive on a dead-end world. Working for the mines by day, she’s a successful
bajha player at night, disguised as a male to be allowed to compete in the colony’s
dangerous underworld where club owners will go to extremes to retain the best
players. Every win puts her one small step closer to her goal: saving enough to
escape Barésh with her family. When a nobleman from one of the galaxy’s elite
families recruits her to be a star player for his team, it's because he doesn't
know her secret. Her ruse proves to be her most perilous game yet when it puts
both their lives—and her heart—at risk.
Prince Charming he was not...
Prince Klark is eager to reverse his
reputation as the black sheep of the Vedla clan, a family as famous for its
wealth and power as it is for being a bastion of male-dominated tradition. If
his bajha team can win the galactic title it would go a long way toward
restoring the family honor that his misdeeds tarnished. He travels to Barésh to
track down an amateur who’s risen to the top of the seedy world of street
bajha, offering the commoner a chance of a lifetime: a way off that reeking
space rock for good. But his new player comes with a scandalous secret that
turns his plans and his beliefs upside down. He sets out to win a very
different prize—his champion’s reluctant heart.
REVIEW
Champion of Baresh is the first book by Susan Grant that I have ever read. When I read the synopsis I was immediately intrigued. I needed to know more so when I got the chance to read it early I got to it as soon as I could. I was not disappointed this book was wonderful!
In this book we mainly follow Klark and Jemm, I loved these two together I love the whole trainer and trainee relationship between them in the book . I found that the romance between them was perfect for the story I shipped these two together so very hard lol . I was absolutely thrilled with where we left them at the end of this book . There relationship was very unique , as they spent more time around each other you began to see them open up to each other, learn from each other and in the end fall in love. I loved the world building in this book as I learned more about the worlds, the setting and the traditions I was so very fascinated and I love that Susan Grant found away to explain it all in away that it did not come off so complex that it was confusing and sometimes in science fiction this tends to happened.I loved that Jemm was this amazing female Bajha player in competition that is so male dominated I was rooting for her all the way through this book.
Champion of Baresh By Susan Grant was Fun , Sexy , Thrilling , Emotional , Heartwarming and just a pleasure to read . Between the cast of character , the unique settings and entertaining plot Susan grant has not only created an amazing story but a fantastic science fiction novel .Iam definitely look forward to seeing what Susan grant will write next . IF you love all these things in your books I suggest you pick up a copy

Q&A with Susan Grant
1 Can you tell us a little about your writing process?
My stories incubate in my head. I daydream the entire book and also scene by scene. I have a very long drive to the airport for work, so that’s primetime for thinking about my work(s) in progress. That’s when I love to listen to music, too. It inspires me. Each book has its own playlist. Going about my day, I’ll type out snatches of dialogue or scene bits and add them to my notes app on my iPhone. I add those notes to the book file, the story itself, when I next sit down to write. I don’t outline, but before too long the entire book is sketched out in the file. My first draft is also pretty much my final draft. I polish where I’ve been before moving on. I’m too OCD to have a sloppy draft. It wrecks my creativity. It’s a weird way to do things but it works for me.
2 Where do you get your book inspiration from?
Anywhere and everywhere!
3 Describe The Champion of Barésh in 5 words?
Immersive. Suspenseful. Different. Exhilarating. Hybrid.
4 If you could invite 10 of your characters to a dinner (they can come from any of your books) who would you invite and why?
Ten? TEN? I hope they don’t mind eating pizza!
1. Jemm Aves
2. Klark Vedla
3. Muffin
4. Nico Aves
5. Uncle Yul
6. Káo Vantaar-Moray
7.Carly Callahan
8. Ilana Hamilton
9. Ché Vedla
10. Ian Hamilton
5 What are you working on now book wise?
Now that I’m indie, I’m having the time of my life writing. I’m working on a short for a fun project with some of the other authors from the Sci-Fi Romance Brigade. The collection is called Pets in Space, and that pretty much sums up the stories. Mine will take place in the Star Series/Star World Frontier world, a royal alien, a commoner Earthling, and the pet who brings them together. I’m also working on the next Star World Frontier book, and also the first installment in an alien abduction trilogy. Very exciting.
Excerpt
As
soon as Kes left the locker room, Klark turned to the wall and slapped his
hands against the cold, tiled wall, keeping them pressed there, fingers spread,
willing his hands to serve as anchors to prevent him from going after her.
Sea
Kestrel, a female.
A
woman!
No
mere woman, either. He remembered her as Jemm, the errant Nico’s alleged
girlfriend: her long, strong, lean body and the graceful way she moved; that
swaying, tempting bottom as she walked away; her wavy hair wild and loose—all
but begging for his fingers to be tangled in it as he made love to her.
Damnation.
The mental image alone made his body react and his blood run hot. Yet, this
same female to which he was so attracted played bajha far
better than he ever could. He had come to respect her as an unbelievably
talented athlete, had let down his guard around her as a friend, and now she
was a beautiful woman, as well? In his world, such disparate qualities could
not apply to any one person. Yet, together, they added up to Jemm.
