Interview With Naima Simone

Hiiiii, JoJo also known as She Whose GIF Game is Strong. LOL!! I was going to say On Fleek, but my son told me that was played, and I would shame  him if I did say it, so I didn’t… 

1. Where did the idea for The Bachelor’s Promise come from?

Well, it’s a part of the Bachelor Auction series, so the idea came from a fairy tale, The Frog Prince. Loosely based on it anyway. I took the promise element and ran with it, added some feuding pseudo-siblings, a grudge, and sexy times. And ta-daaa! The Bachelor’s Promise.

2. Can you carry us through what your writing process looks like?

Something always changes at least a little—at least for me—because it depends on the book I’m writing and when it’s due. But the steps that usually remain the same are: Wake up. Blink at sunshine. Wonder why the sun is so bright, and I haven’t exploded into flames yet. Remember I’m not a vampire, and go make coffee. Brainstorm character sketches and plot. Call critique partner who gives me better ideas that help me flesh everything out. Outline entire book (yep, I’m a tad bit anal). Create playlist. Get to writing. Find out I want to change something mid-way. Pants it. Go back to outline. Finish writing book. That’s the gist of it which doesn’t include playing game after game of Angry Birds Pop and watching reruns of Beverly Hills 90210. They help me think. No, seriously…

3. We all love books. What are some of your favorite books?

Hands down The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Son of the Morning by Linda Howard, anything Nalini Singh has ever written, The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan, Jo Raven’s Inked Brotherhood series, Wicked Burn by Beth Kery… I could go on and on. Sigh. So many books, so little money to fund my habit… Or so my hubby says… 

4. Describe The Bachelor’s Promise in 5 words?

Ooh. Emotional, sexy, heart-warming, romantic, yahs-and-amen. 

5. What are you working on right now writing wise?

Actually, I’m working on the fourth book in the Bachelor Auction series, A Millionaire at Midnight. It’s based on Cinderella…but with a twist. I’m absolutely loving my characters. Especially my heroine who could be called quirky, eccentric…or suffering from multiple personalities. LOL!! At least, that’s what the hero thinks.

1. Noelle has seen the entire Twilight saga movies 32 times. Aiden’s seen them 18. 

2. Noelle’s favorite color is canary yellow.

3. Aiden never had a pet, but he’s always wanted a dog. 

4. Noelle loves to read. 

5. As a boy, Aiden used to collect Archie comic books along with DC comics.

6. Aiden’s favorite color is purple.

7. Noelle’s favorite drink is an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half ice tea)

8. Aiden and his best friend Lucas met when they got into a fight in the 10th grade.

9. Noelle has always wanted an Easy Bake oven, but never received one.

10. Aiden’s favorite channel is the History channel.

3. If you could time travel to one time period which one would it be? Does this include the future? Because I would love to travel to whatever time Star Trek is set in. Not because I’m a Trekkie, but because I want to experience all the super cool gadgets and technology that back in the 80’s we believed we’d have by the 21st century. What a jip. 

4. What are you reading right now? Rogue Blood by T. A. Grey. I love her Untouchables series! Well, actually, I love all her books…

5. If you could invite 5 people to dinner living, fictional or dead who would they be? Oooh. Queen Boudica, C.S. Lewis, Malcolm X, Aslan the Lion and Maya Angelou.

6. Anything else you like to add?
